HOT DOGS IN CARS
Since I posted a Photo of an 'older' lady's dog in a hot car and her reaction on social media -
I have had dogs for years - way before you were born missy
I was only 5 minutes
How dare you tell me i am mis-treating my Baby
I only needed three things
I left the window open
It's not mid-day sun
I started to wonder how many people DON'T KNOW what to do if they see a dog left in a car !

Parked cars are DEATHTRAPS for dogs:
THE ANSWER -
DON'T LEAVE DOGS IN CARS AT ALL -
THE POLICE ARE SAYING IF YOU SEE A DOG LOCKED IN A CAR IN HOT WEATHER TAKE A PICTURE OF DOG AND CAR, IF A PERSON IS WITH YOU GET THEM TO BRING UP WEATHER FOR YOUR AREA ON THEIR PHONE SO YOU CAN SCREEN SHOT THE TEMP THEN BREAK WINDOW, THIS WAY YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL DAMAGE AND IT GIVES THE POLICE THE PHOTO EVIDENCE TO TAKE OWNERS TO COURT. CAN EVERYONE PLEASE COPY AND PASTE THIS INFORMATION TO PREVENT THIS CRUEL ACT FROM HAPPENING.
While the above-displayed message is occasionally accompanied by a clarifying statement noting that this advice may only applied to a certain geographical areas (such as the UK)
I found no record of any police department officially approving these actions.
In fact, several police departments have responded on social media to say that they :
Cannot guarantee citizens will not face criminal charges
Breaking a car window, regardless of circumstances, is still Criminal Damage.
No, this is not what we would advise, because we couldn’t guarantee someone breaking into a car wouldn’t face criminal damage charges. We would always advise people to call the police — on 101 or 999 in an emergency. Officers are able to gain access to cars to free an animal which is in danger — thank you
SO :
If you see a dog left alone in a hot car,
Take down the
Car’s colour, model, make, license plate number.
Have the owner called in the nearest buildings,
Call RSPCA AND police -
ASK FOR THE CALL TO BE LOGGED
Have someone keep an eye on the dog.
Don’t leave the scene until
the situation has been resolved.
If the authorities are unresponsive or too slow
The dog’s life appears to be in imminent danger,
Look out for :
Restlessness
Thick saliva,
Heavy panting,
Lethargy,
Dark tongue,
Rapid heartbeat,
Vomiting,
Bloody diarrhea,
and lack of coordination.
Find a witness (or several)
who will back up your assessment,
Take Photos / Video of the animal -
Voicing your concern -
have others voice their concern on video
Take steps to remove the suffering animal from car,
Wait for authorities to arrive.
GIVE THE DOG A DRINK -
WAIT FOR POLICE / OWNERS
UNLESS IN NEED OF VETERINARY TREATMENT

If you wouldn’t put your dog in a frying pan, please don’t make him or her walk on hot pavement.
